Note that you might have to throw up a heal for your pet if he gets off the banana boomerang at the right time. Hope that helps - the easiest way to find it is to start at the North tip of Soggy's Gamble and go North, it is right there. Comment by Piranha This guy seems to be bugged on Azjol-Nerub. What this means is that, if the theory that rare spawns share a spawn CD by zone, nothing else will spawn in Dread Wastes.
I'm gonna do a bit more research and update this post in a day or so. Edit: Yeah, the theory's totally wrong, rares have been spawning as they should in both the Dread Wastes, and in the Valley of the Four Winds I recently found that Bonobos is also glitched in the same manner.
I would like to know though, why all the Hozen rare spawns are the ones being glitched out. I'm thinking it's got something to do with the shared Going Bananas ability This is the third Hozen rare that I have found in that type of health condition Major Nanners and The Yowler being the other two.
It seems to be a bug in the reset mechanism. They can reset themselves if for instance when Going Bananas they jump to far away from their usual spawn point but if you disengage as I did once with Yowler you cannot go back and attack again because they evade all attacks.
In the case of Yowler he returned to a different place then the one where I first engaged him. I tagged him inside his cave but he was outside the cave when I returned to attack and he began evading all attacks. Comment by Me and a mage killed him easily, he dropped the sack of goods, the tanking chestpiece, and the hozen beach ball. Comment by TheZoog Monkey-rares can't be kited too far. The difference for this one is he will reset if you try and drag him out of his cave so he can't be kited at all.
Unlike the other Bananarang throwers, he can and often throws TWO of them, one after the other. I'm not sure if its a glitch, but it makes the fight interesting especially when they are going in two different directions.
But like all the Bananarangs, they move failry slowly in a straight line away, then back to his hand. Melee can get unlucky and get hit by it immediately when he throws it - not your fault. Like all the monkey-rares, he "Goes Bananas" by jumping around and the trick is to stay in the spot where he started, because they rarely land on that one starting spot.
If for some reason you aren't close to him when he starts jumping, just remember that his jumps are random but will occasionally target the spot you are standing in so try to keep moving and heads up, because even though he's in a cave he jumps long distance so you can easily more or less see the trajectory of the jump and move to another location.
Comment by Very easy fight if you know what to do, managed to almost solo this guy on my 89 fury warrior but unfortunately a level 90 horde decided to kill me before i could kill him. So i would have killed him if not for the hordie who interupted the fight.
Sorry for long post but i hope this helps any melee class that is having trouble killing him. Comment by tom Remember that these guys are susceptible to CC such as Paralysis and other similar spells so you can use that time to heal up or wait for buff stacks to drop without reseting.
Comment by Dragonbolas Just killed him in 5. Uploading screenshot of the loot window for you. Comment by themacone Does anyone know of a rough respawn timer for this monkey? Comment by llubtoille found him as an 86 ret pally he's near the BoA sword , no real problems killing him in ilev gear, just get out of his way when he starts doing his stuff.
Comment by Agie Ok, the cave entrance where Ik-Ik is located, which is a flat whole in the ground is at coords 54 Comment by JustRob Oh my God this guy is a pain. As a freshly dinged 90, this guy really scared the crap out of me for a second. The bananas he throws move slow, but hit HARD, so dodge them. In the end he did go down, but he dropped some stupid ass mail chestplate instead of the beach ball. Comment by Nubiez I just solod this as a level 88 warlock with my voidwalker out.
Just watchout for the bananarang, it was hitting me for 88k and once it hit me it seemed to turn around instantly and hit me another one or two times. Comment by myt I didn't come here to brag i just thought this might be useful information to someone else in my position. Ive been gearing my hunter with drops from these rare spawns and the chest was proving a problem as the rares in dread wastes that drop it were far too powerful for me to kill as im capped at lvl I tried this guy and killed him on my second attempt which i was chuffed about but he dropped the leather chest which i wasnt so chuffed about.
The good news is i found one of the rares in dread wastes that i can kill on a level 85 hunter and it was this guy, so i'll be camping him till he drops my chest. Edit: For those of you interested my ilvl is and i have the fishsticker crossbow, sry for not linking, and a tortoise pet.
Comment by BarbaricGoose Protection Warriors , attention! Killed him as an 89 prot. He seems extremely difficult, but he's pretty easy once you know what to do. As his health winds down, he seems to cast his abilities more often, so this becomes a more pressing concern.
But as long as you avoid his other abilities, his autoattacks shouldn't prove an issue. Bananarang : flings banana in the direction he was facing when he started casting. Hits real hard. At least 70k. It'll ricochet off walls until it disappears.
He doesn't ever catch it--it just disappears after awhile. You can run behind him or to his side as he starts casting to avoid the initial damage. A good trick is to line him up so that he'll throw the banana directly North, South, East or West. This way it'll ricochet in a nice, predictable straight line. If he throws it North, for instance, it'll ricochet South, then North, etc.
So after the throw, just move him to the left or right. Going Bananas : technically his most dangerous ability, but not for us.
The reason it's no big deal for prot. So just charge him once he starts jumping around, and it'll quickly put a stop to it. It's always possible that he'll get lucky or you'll get unlucky and he'll land right smack on top of you on the first jump.
This happened to me once, and it killed me. This is just the way the cookie crumbles, but it's unlikely provided you start moving away from him right as he starts casting it. I did notice a glitch at one point where I hit him with charge just as he jumped, and he didn't get stunned.
This only happened once out of the 10 - 15 times I had to stun him. Even so, try to time your stun so it hits him as soon as he lands, and before he can jump again. It'll take awhile, but keep up shield block, and make sure to heal with Enraged Regeneration or Impending Victory. If you're having trouble with Going Bananas, you may wanna try saving up a little rage so you'll have Shield Barrier ready when he uses it. That way, if you do get an immediate hit, it may not be a death sentence.
Good luck! Comment by fearvector I have been farming Ik-Ik for a few days now and i have manged to work out he has roughly a 30 min respawn timer, with him only once taking nearly 40 mins to respawn. Edit: Ok just got another kill, and he took 36 mins this time to respawn. So i am going to say it is certainly a 30 - 40 minute respawn timer.
Comment by Andersism Here's some data I've compiled while trying to the Beach ball: First day of camping: - , bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy - , no bag, no toy End for this session, had to get a hair cut - maybe it'll help. So, my experience is that Ik-Ik has a respawn timer of between 30 minutes and up to one hour.
